You are invited to join the Shasta County Fire Safe Council’s “Are you Ready Shasta?” Membership Program. Members are part of our

team , supporting the programs that help reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfire to our communities. Funds received through memberships and donations will be used to accomplish educational goals and on-the-ground projects.

SHASTA COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL GOALS: 

ORGANIZE MEDIA AWARENESS PROGRAM

• Display the Fire Safe Trailer at more events
• Create Educational programs on defensible space that result in reduced insurance rates for homeowners
• Expand publicity that results in broadcommunity support
• Increase the success of watershed groups in defensible space education outreach
• Educate residents on the value of defensible space to lower insurance rates
• Develop stories for the media on before & after creating defensible space

INCREASE PROTECTION FROM WILDFIRE ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE

• Develop volunteer groups to create defensible space for the elderly and disabled
• Coordinate neighborhood Fire Safe Councils to create defensible space withinneighborhoods
• Create defensible space for 10 landowners each year
• Complete maintenance every 3-5 years, as needed, on previously created shaded fuelbreaks throughout the county
• Create an endowment fund to cover the cost of maintaining strategic fuelbreaks throughout the county
